Hanger Lamp
A sculptural light developed through a three-person collaboration, from transformation studies to a pilot build and field use.
Interaction
Let the transformation explain itself.
The product’s change in configuration is central to its identity. The sequence shows the movement clearly while keeping the original product imagery intact.
Iteration
Refine it, build it, put it in use.
Development moved through physical iterations and into a 20-unit pilot. Placement at 17 beta sites brought the lamp into real environments and made the practical details of use and assembly part of the development process.
Mechanism
A captured handle with fewer interfaces.
Two slider halves capture the flange of the teak handle. The teak provides the sole sliding interface, allowing the geometry and material to perform the guiding function together.
Process tooling
Make the small parts repeatable.
The hinge-pin forming fixture addresses a repeatable bend in 3 mm stainless-steel rod. A depth stop and allowance for springback connect the desired geometry to a practical fabrication sequence.
Documentation
Resolve the product all the way to the build.
Engineering drawings and assembly information carry the developed design into repeatable fabrication.
